What triggers cystitis?

Urinary Tract Infrection’s (UTI’s) typically occur when bacteria outside the body enter the urinary tract through the urethra and begin to multiply. How can someone differentiate from cystitis and a UTI?

Cystitis is usually more of an irritation and a frequency of urination which is oftentimes self-limiting. On the other-hand a Bacterial UTI can move up the urethra into the kidneys causing back pain, delirium and nausea amongst other things.
